The Journey

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” .–Robert Frost

The Journey is our process for discipleship. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples and The Journey is our way of doing just that. Below are four ways that we offer for you to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ and we hope that you will join us as we walk together on The Journey.

1. Worship:

Worship for us is about reaching up to Christ and then we reach out to others as an act of worship to Christ. It’s vertical then horizontal. We reach up first and then out. Worship doesn’t just happen on Sunday morning, it happens every day of the week as we live love vertically and horizontally. In matthew 22:34-40 Jesus commanded us to Love God and Love Others and worship is the way we live that out. Worship is the beginning step in growing as a disciple.

2. Study:

People learn most in community with other people. It’s people taking the time to invest in the growth of one another and we offer three ways for you to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ and others. We offer Sunday School Classes, SAU, and Journey Groups all throughout the year.

Sunday School

Sunday school is available every Sunday morning and it consists of various groups of people and ages coming together to study the bible in relationship with each other.

SAU

SAU stands for St. Andrew University. SAU is our ”little seminary” where we further train people to become disciples. The commitment level for these classes is one year and sign ups begin in December. We currently offer six core classes.

  1. Starting Point: An entry level course teaching about basic Christian beliefs
  2. Bible 101: An overview of the Bible and tools for understanding it.
  3. A Devotional Life: A course on growing in our relationship with God and others.
  4. Just Walk Across The Room: A course on sharing your faith in a non-intimidating way.
  5. Living Beyond Yourself: A course teaching the importance of serving.
  6. Your Money Map: A course about stewardship and financial freedom.

Journey Groups:

Journey Groups are all about continuing to grow in our relationship with Christ and each other. They are small groups that meet to support each other through fellowship, various studies, prayer, service, and accountability. These groups are available for people to join at any time throughout the year.

3. Serving:

Our faith is both personal and social, meaning that Christ served us and therefore we serve others. We believe that each person has God given gifts that are to be used to help others and bring glory to Christ. As a church we are committed to helping people identify their gifts and putting them to use through acts of service all for the glory of Christ.

4. Giving:

Giving is important for people to grow as disciples, yet so many give with the wrong intentions. They give thinking they can manipulate God with their money. God isn’t someone we use. We don’t give to get, rather we give, because we have already received. There is nothing more we need that Christ hasn’t already given. The more we grow as disciples the more we realize this and the more freely we give. Disciples in this church are committed to generous giving both to the church and beyond the church.
